A local buggy tour operator needed a site with the energy of its trails, and booking built in.

The client

Madeira Trail Up runs guided off-road buggy tours from Água de Pena, in Madeira, in 2-seat and 4-seat buggies. Its guests drive, with a local guide, on its own equipment and always in small groups.

The challenge

The site had to carry a bold brand, sell three tours in English and Portuguese, and let guests choose a 2-seat or 4-seat buggy and book it online, without the site handling payments itself.

What Madeira Trail Up needed, and what we built

The need

What we built

Carry a bold, local brand.

A custom block theme in the brand's yellow and black, with a strong display typeface and the "Trails you feel" voice.

Sell to visitors in their language.

English by default and Portuguese under /pt/, with every page and tour as a linked pair.

Book tours online, by buggy size.

Bókun on every tour, with a 1–2 or 3–4 people switch that loads the right booking calendar.

Keep the tour pages easy to maintain.

What is included, what to bring, the FAQ, and pickup options, written once and shared by every tour.

How we worked

  1. From design to theme

We built a custom WordPress block theme from the site's design, with a home page, tour pages, and a contact page. NOWORDS supplied the branding, photography, and video.

  2. Moving booking to Bókun

The site first booked through LatePoint. In August 2026 we moved every tour to Bókun, with one Bókun product for each buggy size.

  3. Two languages, one set of tours

We set up English and Portuguese with Polylang, so the Bókun settings entered on an English tour carry over to its Portuguese page.

The result

Every tour now books through Bókun, in English or Portuguese.

Guests pick a tour and a buggy size, then book and pay in the Bókun calendar on the tour page.

What the site does

  • Sells three buggy tours, each in a 2-seat or 4-seat version
  • Books every tour through Bókun, with no payments taken on the site itself
  • Speaks English and Portuguese, page for page
  • Shares common tour information across every tour
  • Loads the Bókun script only on tour pages
