A historic golf club needed a modern site that books tee times and still feels personal to its members.

The client

Clube de Golf Santo da Serra is a World Golf Award-winning club in Santo da Serra, Madeira, with three 9-hole courses, Machico, Desertas, and Serras, and a clubhouse with a restaurant and pro shop. Originally established in 1937 and redesigned in 1991 by Robert Trent Jones Sr., it serves members, locals, and international visitors alike.

The challenge

The club's old Joomla site was hard to navigate for a wide range of ages and gave staff no easy way to publish news, tournaments and results. It needed a members-only area for registrations and rankings, alongside a public site built to convert visitors into tee-time bookings.

What the club needed, and what we built

The need

What we built

Appeal to a wide range of ages and lift engagement and bookings.

A clean, simple interface that works the same way on mobile, tablet, and desktop.

Give staff an easier way to publish news and results.

Backend publishing tools built for both public and members-only content.

Increase tee-time booking conversion.

A streamlined booking flow woven directly into the new site structure.

Let members register for tournaments and follow results.

A members-only area for registration, results and rankings, with notifications by profile and language.

How we worked

  1. Mapping the new sitemap

An initial requirements review surfaced hidden business challenges. We used the club's extensive content library to reimagine the structure into a simpler, SEO-optimized sitemap.

  2. Designing in Figma

We designed a high-fidelity website mockup for desktop and mobile in Figma, then built it in WordPress with Elementor so the club's own team could keep editing it easily.

  3. Building the members area

We built a custom membership area and backend publishing tools, reviewed content with the client through weekly milestones, and redirected outdated backlinks to protect search rankings after launch.

The result

Members and visitors now get a clean, mobile-optimized site that books tee times and keeps the club's history in view.

The club got an easy-to-manage CMS, improved publishing, more booking flows, and a stronger digital presence that reflects its history and international appeal.

What the site does

  • Publishes public and members-only news and tournament results
  • Runs a members-only area for registration and rankings
  • Takes tee-time bookings across three courses
  • Presents the club's history and course details
